NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN ENDODONTIC THERAPY

Nickel Titanium Rotary Files

Traditionally, root canals were long, laborious procedures left to only the most patient of all dentists utilizing hand-bent stainless steel hand files that took immense time and effort to clean root systems with any success. Today instruments are made of nickel titanium, an extremely flexible, super strong metal that can easily negotiate tortuous curves without being pre-curved by the dentist. In addition, the files are used in drills to speed the entire procedure. Typically, a complex root canal that once took multiple long visits can be completed in as little as an hour-and-a-half.

Advanced Dental Techniques provides dentistry services to Wayne, Franklin Lakes, Kinnelon, Montville, Oakland and Pompton Lakes, NJ. Dr. Breiterman has extensive training and experience in cosmetic dentistry, TMJ disorders, dental implants and full mouth reconstruction.

Warm Vertical Condensation

Melted gutta percha, a rubber product, is used to fill the canals of roots three dimensionally, preventing voids and areas that lead to future failures.

BioPure MTAD

BioPure MTAD cleansers abilities are setting the new standard for antibacterial root canal cleansers. It effectively leaves the inside of the tooth immaculately clean while disinfecting the tooth with doxycycline.

ProRoot MTA (Mineral Trioxide Aggregate)

ProRoot MTA is a new material that seals off all pathways between the root canal system and surrounding tissues, significantly reducing bacterial migration. It is used to repair defects in root structures that once condemned teeth to certain extraction. ProRoot MTA now provides a method of saving these teeth.

High Powered Magnification:

In addition to digital radiography, we utilize high powered magnification and fiber optic illumination to assist us in seeing tiny details inside your tooth.

Apex Locators:

Apex locators are digital devices that automatically tell us the position of the tip of the root. Historically, we would take x-rays to help us determine the length of the roots. With advanced dental techniques, we can tell automatically how long the teeth are, thereby reducing the number of x-rays needed for root canal treatment. In addition, this helps ensure a much higher rate of treatment success for root canals than previously received.

Ultrasonics:

These are high frequency devices that break up tooth structure and kill bacteria. They help find almost invisible canals and help to increase the success of treatment.
