DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.

“They Look And Feel Like My Own Teeth”

Thousands of people report their life is transformed by dental implants. If you are currently eating soft foods, you’ll be able to eat steak, apples, even corn on the cob again. You may be pleasantly surprised that your favorite foods taste great again. Implants are sturdy, so you can speak, smile, and laugh with confidence. They provide a strong foundation that helps keep your bone and gums healthy and preserves your attractive profile. Our goal is to provide you with teeth that look and feel natural through a comfortable and convenient procedure.

“Why Replace Missing Teeth”

Your teeth affect your whole body. When they’re healthy, you’re healthier too. Recent studies suggest that tooth loss along with changes in diet from the inability to eat all the same foods, contribute to gastrointestinal diseases and malnutrition. A missing tooth can affect your bite, speech and eating choices. As you rely more on your remaining teeth, you increase the chance they will wear out prematurely, or be damaged or lost. You may also experience headaches or jaw pain.

Who Would Want Their Appearance And Health To Deteriorate?

That’s the natural consequence of missing teeth – the jaw literally melts away. Generally people will lose 25% of their supporting jawbone within the first year after tooth loss. Implants are more easily placed when teeth are first extracted. Bone replacement becomes more complex and expensive as time passes.

The Great News?

Implants act just like your natural teeth. They safeguard and preserve your bone, oral health and appearance. We will provide you with your treatment options so that you can make the most informed decision concerning tooth replacement.

Dental Implant Procedure

Dental implants are metal anchors, which act as tooth root substitutes. They are surgically placed into the jawbone. Small posts are then attached to the implant, which protrude through the gums. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, implants are placed within your jawbone. Healing time following surgery varies from person to person, based on a variety of factors that include hardness of bone. In some cases, implants may be restored immediately after they are placed. For most cases however, the first three to six months following surgery, the implants integrate into the jawbone. You should be able to wear a temporary bridge or denture to improve your function and esthetics.

After the implant has integrated to the jawbone, the second phase begins. Your oral surgeon will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar. Then, Dr. Breiterman will be able to begin making your new teeth. An impression must be taken. Then posts or attachments can be connected to the implants. The teeth replacements are then made over the posts or attachments. Even though implant placement and restoration takes longer than traditional crown and bridge, most people patients prefer it and do not experience any disruption in their daily life.
