DENTAL INSURANCE
Your dental plan is a form of compensation provided by your employer. You can expect the carrier (insurance company) to reimburse you for a portion of our fee. Almost always, there is a small annual cap on benefits as well as a cap on benefits payable for any particular procedure. Procedures that are covered, payment caps levels for individual procedures, as well as annual maximums, are determined by the contract between your employer and insurance company. The higher the premium paid by your company, the more generous the reimbursement. Dental coverage and payments are based on terms of a contract purchased by the employer. They are not determined by medical necessity or by average (usual and customary) cost. Just as people choose coverage levels with auto and homeowners insurance, employers choose the level of dental coverage they purchase for their employees.
