The evaluation of all these systems is much different from the complaint based exams that most people receive when the have their teeth cleaned the same day as their exam. The evaluation of all these systems allows us to determine your true state of health and help you develop a plan for dentistry that can last. These personalized diagnostics will also include a set of 20 photographs for evaluating your teeth and bite, models of your teeth on a machine that simulates your bite and possibly a pretreatment full mock-up of your teeth as they will look following treatment. Through these important methods, you can pre-visualize the end results before any work is ever done and it allows you to provide important input to how your final work will look.
Steps To Personalized Diagnostics
- Discuss and clarify your personal desires and complaints regarding esthetics, function and joints
- Review of Systems
- Review and address medical history
- Oral Cancer Exam
- Periodontal Exam
- Measure all gum pockets and check for disease.
- Assess disease and causes such as health issues or poor restorations.
- Check for moving teeth, loose teeth or drifting teeth.
- Temperomandibular Joint Disease
- Check your TMJs for cartilage damage or arthritis.
- Check all the head and neck muscles that help your joint function and help you open and close your jaws.
- Range of motion tests for your joints
- A Doppler ultrasonic exam of your jaw joint
- A bite registration so your bite can be evaluated for stability.
- Check all restorations for integrity, open margins, cracked, decayed and missing teeth.
- Check the evenness of your bite to make sure all teeth are hitting properly and evenly.
- Full set of radiographs to check for decay, abscesses, tumors and other infections.
- Two sets of models and measurements to place on articulating machine for evaluation of teeth and for pretreatment mockup.
- Full set of 20 photographs to evaluate smile, teeth and gum tissue.
- Pre-Consultation with specialists on your behalf that will be required for comprehensive care.
